Credits and billing
What a credit is
A credit is one unit of work done on our servers. Anything that runs on your own machine costs nothing and always will.
What spends a credit
| Credits | |
|---|---|
| A short chat reply | 1 |
| A long reasoning answer | 3 |
| A generated image | 8 |
| A minute of video rendered on our servers | 20 |
These are the real numbers. The price of an action is decided by our server, not by the app on your machine, so the figure you see here is the figure that is charged.
What never spends a credit
- Anything the Nova terminal browser does locally
- The camera link between your phone and your Mac
- Syncing settings, bookmarks and devices between your own machines
- Rendering video on your own device, which is the default
- Chatting with a model through your own API key — that work never touches our servers, so there is nothing for us to charge for
Your allowance
Every plan includes a monthly allowance, from 50 on the free plan to 2,000 on Bundle. It renews each month and unused credits do not roll over — an allowance is a rate, not a balance.
You can see how much is left on the Plans page in the app. When you run out, anything that would spend a credit stops and says so; nothing is silently downgraded or queued.
Bringing your own key
If you add your own provider key in settings, requests go straight from your machine to that provider. We never see the traffic and we never charge for it. This is the intended way to use the AI workspace heavily without a large plan.
Prices are provisional
Every number on the pricing page is a placeholder until the company registration completes. Nothing can be bought for real money today, and upgrading in the app ends at a checkout stub that changes your plan without taking payment.
